A silicone compsn. curable to a rubber comprises: (A) 100 pts. wt. of an alkenyl-contg. polydiorganosiloxane having an ave. of at least 2 silicon-bonded alkenyl radicals per molecule where the alkenyl radical has 2-10C atoms per radical, each organo radical of the polydiorganosiloxane being a monovalent radical selected from hydrocarbon radicals and fluorinated alkyl radicals both having less 7C atoms per radical, the polydiorganosiloxane having triorganosiloxy end gps.; (B) an organo-hydrogen-siloxane having an ave. of at least 3 silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule and valences of any silicon atom in the organo-hydrogen-siloxane not satisfied by a hydrogen atom is satisfied by a divalent oxygen atom or an organo radical which is a monovalent radical selected from hydrocarbon and fluorinated alkyl radicals with less than 7C atoms per radical, the organo-hydrogen-siloxane having no more than one silicon-bonded hydrogen atom on any one silicon atom, the amt. of organo-hydrogen-siloxane providing a ratio of silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms to alkenyl gps. from the polydiorganosiloxane of 1.2-2; (C) a hydrosilation catalyst contg. platinum; (D) 0.1-1 pt. wt. of an (epoxy-functional organo)trialkoxysilane where the alkoxy radicals have 1-4C atoms; (E) 0.25-5 pts. wt. of an alkoxy-silicon cpd. selected from tetraalkyl-polysilicates or alkoxy-silicon cpds. of formula (I): n = 0 or 1; R = 1-4C alkyl radical; and R' = monovalent hydrocarbon radical, where the alkyl gps. of the tetraalkyl orthosilicates and the alkyl-polysilicates are methyl, ethyl, propyl or butyl; and (F) 0.01-0.5 pt. wt. of a titanium cpd. having Ti-O-CH bonds. The total amt. of (D) and (E) is 0.5-6 pts. wt. and the molar amt. of (E) exceeds the molar amt. of (D). Also claimed is a method of adhering a glass substrate to a stainless steel substrate using the above compsn. |
