An elbow-like transition piece consisting of plastic for connecting a flush-mounted plastic pipe to a metallic fitting forms two connection stubs (2, 3) which are connected by a bend (4) and of which the axes are normal with respect to one another. One connection stub (3) serves for the welding-in of the plastic pipe, whereas the other connection stub (2) exhibits a thread for the screwing-in of the fitting. In order to achieve relatively shallow slits or grooves for laying the plastic pipe, the bend (4) extends, with the effect of a displacement of the connection stub (3) which receives the plastic pipe, towards the end surface of the other connection stub (2) over more than 90 DEG and is designed approximately in the form of an S. <IMAGE>
