A tree-shaking appliance has a vibrator which is coupled to a tension device engaging round the tree trunk or tree branch. The vibrator is mounted, together with the tension device, at a free end of a preferably vertically adjustable boom of a working machine. In order, even in difficult terrain, to guarantee in a simple way that a trunk or branch is grasped, there is provision for mounting the vibrator on an essentially horizontal elongate vibrating carrier which can be mounted on the boom via a bearing pivotable about a vertical axis and which at one end carries the tension device. At the same time, the vibrating carrier preferably has a handle at the end opposite the tension device and supports the vibrator there. The vibrating carrier can be mounted on the vertical pivot bearing via a live ring which allows the vibrating carrier to rotate about its longitudinal axis.
