CONTINUOUSLY CAST METAL CONTAINING MINUTE PARTICLES DISPERSED THEREIN AND STEEL MATERIAL

A cast metal containing, dispersed therein, 30 to 2,000 minute particles per square millimeter of the cross section of the metal, wherein the particles have diameters of 0.1 to 10 mu m and are composed of MnS and oxides composed of a manganese silicate wherein the poroportion of manganese oxides account for 50 to 80 % by weight of the sum of the manganese oxides and silicon oxides, unavoidably incorporated oxides and, if necessary, at least one oxide selected from among those of Zr, Ti, Ce, Hf, Y and Al. Since the cast metal contains many dispersed particles which readily function as the nucleus for the precipitation of MnS, it can provide a steel plate having a good HAZ toughness and a steel sheet having an excellent deep drawability.
