Arrangement for determining the driving (running) speed of a vehicle

An arrangement for determining the driving speed of a vehicle with as little noise as possible is specified which has at least two vehicle axes over a driving plane. In the arrangement, provision is made of an acceleration sensor (5) which is arranged between the vehicle axes and is essentially sensitive to acceleration components perpendicular to the driving plane. A correlation signal is formed from the undelayed output signal of the acceleration sensor (5) and a delayed signal of the acceleration sensor (5) which is generated by means of a variable time-delay device. A determination is made of the delay time for which the correlation signal reaches its maximum. The driving speed v of the vehicle is determined from this delay time t0 and the wheelbase d of the vehicle in accordance with the equation v = d/t0. <IMAGE>
