Manual metering device for applying pressurised grease or other pasty substances to a workpiece. The manual metering device is provided with a grease valve (52, 56) which can be actuated by means of an actuating lever (12) and has a cylindrical section (56) and a piston (52) which can be displaced in the latter. When the grease valve is closed, the piston stroke causes a small quantity of grease to be withdrawn, which means that there is no dripping out or soiling by escaping grease. <IMAGE>
