<p>The parabolic dish antenna (22) is mounted on the vessel or other object to be defended. The main beam (T) of the radar is locked onto the incoming attack missile or aircraft (26). A four horn feeder system produces four side lobe beams (A, B, C, D). The anti-missile missile is launched along the beam. The anti-missile missile has a radar detector built into it. If its course takes it out of the effective beam of the radar, it changes course back into the beam. It thus follows a zig-zag track until it reaches the incoming attacker.</p> |
