The packaging comprises a greetings card which is provided with at least one recess for holding the money, the greetings card preferably being provided with an illustration of which the money in note and/or coin form forms part. The greetings card may comprise two card parts which are attached to one another and in at least one of which the recess(es) for the money is (are) arranged. In addition, the greetings card may be provided with a punched line for the paper money to be fitted through, in which case the card is provided, in the vicinity of the punched line, with a layer of non- permanent adhesive for holding the paper money in place.
