The termination of a rope, or a bundle of ropes, comprises a housing with a frusto-conical bore accommodating hollow members which wedgedly retain a rope end portion or rope ends. Spherical housing 12, Fig. 1, accommodates members 16 in which rope ends of a rope bundle are wedged by wedges 18.
