Single-chain immunotoxin compositions and methods for preventing secondary cataracts

Novel methods and compositions are provided for preventing secondary cataracts. A fusion protein cytotoxic for epithelial cells is introduced into the posterior or anterior chamber of the eye to inhibit proliferation of remnant lens epithelial cells after extracapsular cataract extraction. The cytotoxic agents can be provided as kits.
