PURPOSE:To provide an image forming apparatus capable of deciding whether electric power should be switched off or not in accordance with the type of trouble. CONSTITUTION:The image forming apparatus 11 monitors its operation through various kinds of sensors 581-58N. When abnormalities happen, addressing information according to the content is fed to a nonvolatile memory 55 in order to carry out the retrieval for an abnormal content judging table. The contents of table are classified into two types of trouble, one that the operator can handle and the other that needs a serviceman. In the case of the latter type, that information is displayed and all circuits, except the display, are turned off. As a consequence, electric power is saved during the occurrence of abnormalities. |
