PURPOSE:To provide a process for producing high-purity quaternary ammonium bicarbonate in high yield in a short time. CONSTITUTION:This process for the production of quaternary ammonium bicarbonate comprises the reaction of a carbonic acid diester or a carbonic acid diaryl ester with a tertiary amine in water and a polar solvent in the presence of a small amount of an organic carboxylic acid.
