Cell for the decomposition of water to produce H2 and O2 is fed from a rectifier which is connected to the power supply through a parallel resonance circuit, consisting of resistances, inductances and capacitances. Arrangement enables several electrolytic cells to be connected in series. The active current flowing through the circuit is increased only little by the series connection.
