A method for obtaining selenium yeast, where the culture is grown on a nutrient medium with selenium included, characterized in that the nutrient medium is first prepared, preferably a mineral nutrient medium, with addition of saccharose as the source of carbon and vitamins, in particular: thiamine hydrochloride, biotin, calcium pantothenate, and a buffer of approx. 4.8 pH, and to that nutrient medium, a suspension of Yarovia lipolityca yeast is added and the culture is bred at temperature of 24-30 degrees C for a minimum of 48 hours, and then, the yeast is centrifuge-separated in sterile conditions, and the entire biomass is transferred onto a nutrient medium with additives as in the beginning but with a small content of sulphur compounds, and such passaging procedure is repeated twice at least, and then the yeast is centrifuge-separated in sterile conditions and entered into a nutrient medium as used for the passaging but with ammonium selenate that was sterily-added and sterilized before, whereas such procedure is repeated twice at least while increasing the selenium concentration, and finally, the biomass so obtained is dried by a known method.
