METHOD FOR REFINING ALUMINUM SCRAP

PURPOSE:To refine an aluminum material having the aimed composition from molten metal of aluminum scrap by utilizing segregated solidification. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal 2 of aluminum raw material charged in a rotatable refining vessel 1 is held to the temp. of solidifying point of alpha-Al or higher. The molten metal 2 is cooled with a cooling body 7 arranged at the bottom part of the refining vessel 1 while stirring the molten raw material 2 with a stirrer displacing a rotary shaft 3 or an ascending/descending shaft from the rotating center C of the refining vessel 1. The refining aluminum is obtd. as the solidified body 8 crystallizing and separating the impurity. At the same time of rotating the refining vessel 1, the stirrer can relatively be shifted in the horizontal direction. By this method, as the stagnating part is not developed at the lower part of the rotary shaft 3 or the ascending/ descending shaft, the crystallized impurity and impurity concd. liquid is taken out to mother liquor from solidified interface and the high purity refined aluminum is obtd. as the whole body.
