DUST-REMOVING AND DEODORIZING ELEMENT AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a dust-removing and deodorizing element using a low density activated carbon fiber reduced in pressure loss by holding the low density activated carbon fiber between a nonwoven fabric and a rather coarse reinforcing nonwoven fabric and molding the whole into a plated shape. CONSTITUTION:A functional nonwoven fabric 5 having an asymmetric structure having a proper density gradient is formed using a material composed of polypropylene or polyester while a rather coarse reinforcing nonwoven fabric 7 is formed using a material composed of polypropylene or polyester. A low density untreated activated carbon fiber 4 is held between those nonwoven fabrics 5, 7 and the whole is subjected to needle-punching processing to obtain a long laminated base material. Next, this base material is immersed in an aq. soln. of an acid/metal ion and the immersed base material is dried to be molded into a pleated shape by bending/embossing processing.
