<p>PURPOSE:To achieve recording of high quality without lowering gradation between blocks by making larger the driving energy applied to a heating element located at a boundary between blocks using driving energy applied to other heating elements. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal printer wherein a plurality of heating elements are divided into a plurality of blocks and recording is performed at every block, there are provided a plurality of gradation correction table 8, wherein there are stored resistance value data which is obtained by multiplying resistance value data of a heating element located at a boundary between blocks by a desired coefficient, which is different according to gradation, and resistance value data of other heating elements, to select a gradation correction table 8 according to a gradation to be recorded. Driving energy to be applied to a heating element to be recorded is controlled based on the resistance value data and gradation data read from the selected correction table 8. As a result, by merely reading data from the gradation correction table 8 corresponding to gradation, unevenness in density can be simply corrected.</p> |
