PURPOSE: To provide an effective seal even if a stump is contracted by laying an automatically adjusted sealing member at a position adjacent to the open aproximal of a suction socket. CONSTITUTION: The tubular body member 1a of a suction socket 1 has a check valve 2 at a closed distal end 3, and a seal member 4 at a position adjacent to an open aproximal end 5 for the closure thereof. The seal member 4 is fixed within the peripherally extended groove 1b of the socket 1, and an artificial leg is fitted to the distal end 3 of the socket 1. Also, the seal member 4 has a cable 6 formed like a spring type ring, and an elastic material surrounds the cable 6, thereby forming the outer rim 4a of the seal member 4. Furthermore, an elastic diaphragm having a center opening 4c for receiving the stump of the leg, or a membrane, or a web 4 is extended from the rim 4a. In this case, the outer diameter of the seal member 4 across the rim 4a is made slightly larger than the inner diameter of the socket 1 across the groove 1b, thereby seating and holding the seal member 4 on and with the groove 1b. |
