PURPOSE:To obtain a sheet molding compound for preparing an artificial marble good in strength and appearance. CONSTITUTION:A thermosetting resin compsn. layer is formed to the inner surface of thermoplastic film 8 among two thermoplastic films 6, 8 and a layer formed by dispersing and accumulating glass monofilaments 9 obtained by disintegrating and cutting a glass fiber bundle 12 at random is placed on the thermosetting resin compsn. layer and a thermosetting resin compsn. layer is also formed on the inner surface of the other thermoplastic resin film 6 and two thermoplastic films 6, 8 are superposed one upon another so that the thermosetting resin compsn. layers respectively become inside to impregnate the glass monofilament 9 with the thermosetting resin compsn. before ageing.
