PURPOSE:To prevent an ink from leaking from an ink supply inlet' or an air- communicating opening even when the title device is kept by being upside down. CONSTITUTION:Am ink cartridge comprises a negative pressure generating member housing section 4 that houses a negative pressure generation member 3 and an ink housing section 6 that is adjacent to the housing section 4 via a gap section 8 provided on the bottom section thereof and houses an ink. The negative pressure generating member housing section 4 has an ink supply inlet 2 for supplying an ink to a record head. The ink housing section 6 has a plate-shaped protruding piece 13 that is protruding from the bottom to the inside thereof. The side walls of the ink housing section 6 are connected with each other by carved faces.
