Windscreen wiper for the fixed rear window of a motor vehicle of the type having a rear boot covered by an articulated lid which can move with respect to the window, including a windscreen wiper coupled to the end of an output shaft from a gear motor unit in which a casing (11) containing the gear motor unit is firmly attached to the boot lid in the vicinity of the rear windscreen, the windscreen wiper (16) is connected by its base to the drive shaft by means of an articulation transverse to the shaft, and the casing contains an electromagnet coupled to a cable for operating the windscreen wiper about its axis of articulation. <IMAGE>
