Process for the continuous one-sided or both-sided coating of metal bands with enamel powders or plastic powders, and apparatus for carrying out such a process

Proposed is a process for the continuous one-sided or both-sided coating of metal bands with enamel powders or plastic powders, in which the powder is deposited on the endlessly conveyed metal band 2, which has been heated to melting or softening temperature of the powder, in a chamber 1 in such a manner as to be distributed uniformly over the width of the metal band. In this process, the powder is blown onto the metal band 2. The non-adhering excess powder is removed by suction substantially in the region where it arises in virtually the opposite direction to the direction of application. To this end, the chamber 1, which is maintained at low pressure due to suction and through which the heated endless metal band 2 is guided, is provided. At a defined distance from the metal band 2 there are provided, on one or both sides of the metal band 2 over the width of the band and at intervals in the conveying direction of the band, nozzles 3 or the like which are directed at the metal band. Provided between the nozzles 3 are interspaces 31 which are of defined form and through which the removal of the excess powder by suction is effected. <IMAGE>
