The invention relates to a tilting articulation (1) for an encased awning with articulated arms, an awning-canvas shaft (6) being arranged in a casing (3) which is provided, on its free, vertical end side, with an opening-out strip connected to the free front end of the articulated arms (12), provision being made for a pivot bearing (15) for transferring the articulated arms (12) from their horizontal position, in the retracted state, into a downwardly inclined position, in the extended state, and for a device for stabilising the articulated arms (12) in their inclined position. In order to achieve elastic stabilisation in the extended state and to permit retraction into the casing (3), it is provided that there be arranged, on each articulated arm, a pneumatic spring (19), of which one end forces the articulated arm (12) downwards about the pivot bearing (15), the other end of said pneumatic spring being supported in the region of the casing (3). <IMAGE>
