<p>Described is an apparatus and process for in situ refining of high purity elements in Groups IIA and VIB of the Periodic Table. The refining takes place in a hermetically sealed apparatus containing a distillation zone and a refining zone. The distillation zone contains a feed boat (20) and a heating means (22), while the refining zone contains a collection boat (30) and a heating means (32). Zone refining takes place within the refining zone. The method produces high purity elements containing not more than 100 ppb atomic impurities.</p> |
