<p>A composition for topical application includes a hydroxyalkanoate derivative having structure (I), where R1 represents H- or acyl, R2 represents alkyl of at least 2 carbon atoms, R3 represents H-, alkyl, substituted or interrupted alkyl or a metallic, ammonium or alkanolammonium counterion. The hydroxyalkanoate derivative penetrates deeply into the skin and undergoes cleavage by enzymes in the skin to liberate the corresponding hydroxyalkanoate which benefits skin condition.</p> |
