The invention relates to a carrying handle for a wooden coffin for cremation of a corpse, as well as to means for pivotably mounting several such handles on the coffin. The core piece of the mounting is a simple resilient plastic bolt which is inserted through the coffin wall and is fixed axially. The wooden design of the handle and the plastic design of the handle mounting are chosen with a view to reduce costs for the handle and its mounting and for the disposal of the incineration residues after cremation in the crematorium and decomposition in the case of burials.
