A method for producing a warning signal when there is an undesired drop in pressure in a tyre of a moving vehicle determines the wheel speeds (n) and forms the cross difference from them; these values are stored (3) over a relatively long period of time. Likewise, the stresses on tyres are stored (5) over a relatively long period of time and in those cases in which a comparator (6) detects a large degree of correlation between the stored values, this is classified as a change in the rolling radius of the tyre which is caused by non-harmful wear, since it is uneven, and not by loss of pressure.
