A bridge support (1) has, at its lower end founded under water, an impact protection (4) which surrounds it and is intended to protect the bridge support (1) from damage due to the impact of a ship. For this purpose, a caisson (8) is connected externally, via impact-yielding or impact-elastic connection elements (9), to a protective covering (10) spaced apart from the caisson. The annular space (11) between this protective covering (10) and the caisson (8) is sealed off at the underside, thus forming a floating body which enables floating transportation of the unit consisting of caisson (8) and impact protection (4) into the position of the bridge support (1) to be erected. <IMAGE>
