AIRCRAFT DE-ICING AND ANTI-ICING AGENTS

Aircraft de-icing and anti-icing agents based on glycols and water essentially contain: (a) 80 to 92 % by weight of an alkylene glycol with 2 to 3 carbon atoms, an oxalkylene glycol with 4 to 6 carbon atoms or their mixtures; (b) 0.05 to 1.0 % by weight of at least a non-ionic surfactant made of alcohols with 10 to 20 carbon atoms alkoxylated with 1 to 10 equivalents of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or their mixtures; (c) 0.1 to 0.8 % by weight of a polymer carboxylic acid with a molecular weight from 1,000 to 10,000; (d) 0 to 1.5 % by weight ammonia or hydroxyalkyl amine; (e) 0 to 1.5 % by weight of an additional surfactant; (f) 0.01 to 0.8 % by weight of at least one corrosion inhibitor; and (g) water, that constitutes the remaining percentage by weight.
