A metering system for beverage or beer dispense in which a flow sensing device 9 producing pulses is used to meter a predetermined amount of beverage. The time span between pulse is determined by a control device 15 and compared with pre-set levels to provide a range in which the flow sensing device is accurate. The control device 15 stops dispense if the pulse time span is outside of the accurate range by closing the valve 11. <IMAGE>
