BINDING MOLECULES CONTAINING AT LEAST AN IMMUNOGLOBULIN CONSTANT DOMAIN WITH MODIFIED ALLOTYPIC DETERMINANT

The application provides a binding molecule which has a first amino acid sequence comprising a domain with an ability to bind to a target molecule; and a second amino acid sequence substantially homologous to part or all of the constant region of a human immunoglobulin heavy chain, but which differs in an allotypic determinant; wherein the difference in the allotypic determinant results in said binding molecule having an improved effector function as compared to a binding molecule having the first amino acid sequence and part or all of the constant region of the immunoglobulin heavy chain. Also provided is a method for making a binding molecule which has a first amino acid sequence comprising a domain with an ability to bind to a target molecule and a second amino acid sequence comprising part or all of a human immunoglobulin heavy chain having an allotypic determinant of a sequence associated with a desired effector function.
