COMPOSITE CHARGE FOR SMELTING STEEL

The invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, specifically, to the composition of a charge for use in the production of steel, in particular steel smelting in electrical furnaces. The essence of the invention is the fact that the composite charge for smelting steel comprises an iron-carbon alloy and oxide material in the following proportions (in wt %): iron-carbon alloy 50-95, oxide material 5-50. The oxide material contains between 0.25 and 99.5 % free oxides of metals with an affinity with oxygen not greater than that of carbon. Use of the proposed composite charge in steel smelting reduces the smelting time and improves the quality of the grades of steel smelted, as well as broadening the range of grades of smelted metal.
