A data recording medium having data recording portions of different recording systems in one data recording medium, its production and a data recording/reproduction apparatus. The medium includes an optical recording portion which has a large recording capacity but in which data cannot be re-written data, and a magnetic recording portion which has a small recording capacity but in which data can easily be re-written. The optical recording portion is used as a ROM while the magnetic recording portion is used as a RAM, and a re-writable data recording medium having a large data capacity can be accomplished. An optical recording portion for read-out only by an optical recording system and a magnetic recording portion capable of both recording and reproduction by a magnetic recording system are disposed on one data recording medium. A data recording/reproduction apparatus for this data recording medium includes a system controller (21) and a CLV servo mechanism (217) as a control unit of an optical head (212). This control unit instructs a disc rotation mechanism (22) on the basis of data reproduced from the optical recording portion of the data recording medium (10) at the time of recording and reproduction of the data for the magnetic recording portion, and controls the magnetic head (230). Magnetic recording can cope with both single-track type and multiple-track type, and can prevent interference between the optical head and the magnetic head. Accordingly, the present invention can cope with the data recording medium having both a large recording capacity of the optical recording portion and easiness of the re-write operation of the magnetic recording portion. <IMAGE> |
