Conductive surface layers, for example for forming electrodes, are proposed. In this connection, in the case of piezo-, pyro- and ferroelectric and also piezoceramic devices, the layers (12, 13) are formed from electrically conductive hard materials composed of the metals at least of the III to VIII group of the periodic system of elements.
