Every belt connector and every fastener (1) essentially has a U-shape such that it can be placed on both sides on the corresponding edge of a conveyor belt (T) in order to be attached there by means of a U-shaped attachment clamp or attachment clasp of metal wire whose limbs are pressed through holes (10, 13) which are provided in the clips of each fastener and through the belt located between said holes. In the clip (3) of each fastener (1) for holding the ends of the attachment clamps (8), each hole (13), which is arranged opposite a tip (9) of such an attachment clamp, is connected by means of a hollow channel (14), cut in the outer surface of this same region, to another hole (15), which is intended for the corresponding tip to be passed through. In this way, said tip can be passed back into the interior of the fastener in order to press into the conveyor belt (T) there once again, or to engage between said conveyor belt (T) and the corresponding clip (3) of the fastener, which takes place automatically during bending over and pressing of the ends of the attachment clamps (8) against an anvil (16), on which the fasteners rest while the attachment clamps are being driven in and attached on site.
