The invention relates to a bearing and/or drive system for a rotating drum (1), especially a peeling drum, in which the drive force is preferably transmitted by friction. The main object of the invention is to provide a bearing and/or drive system, especially a bearing combined with a drive, for rotating drums, especially timber peeling drums in which the stresses in the drum jacket are reduced as much as possible with soft bearings and especially with a drive system connected to the bearing. The aim is also thereby to permit reductions in the wall thickness of the drum in the bearing region. The main feature of the invention is that, for supporting and/or driving the drum (1) there is an endless and at least substantially flexible belt-like body (6), especially an endless chain, preferably beneath the drum (1). The belt-like body is elastic, at least at the surface in contact with the drum, to transfer loads or forces from the drum to the base (13) or from the drive to the drum, especially with the use of a chain (6) in which the individual links (18) have elastic components (19). |
