PURPOSE:To obtain a dry type toner used for electrophotographic methods which is difficult to receive the effect of moisture in the atmosphere, has stable conductivity and provides superior image quality by containing conductive short fibers in or on the resin powder of a specific grain size range in forming said toner. CONSTITUTION:A resin such as natural resin, vinyl resin or acrylic resin which is melted and, if necessary, is added with a coloring agent, magnetic powder, etc., is further added with the short fibers slightly longer than the short fibers in which carbon fibers or metallic fibers are <=1/3 the grain sizes of the resultant toner particle sizes and of which the aspect ratio (ratio between longitudinal and transverse lengths) is >=2 in such a manner that said short fibers are contained. After cooling, the mixture is ground and classified. The short fibers are broken during grinding to desired lengths and are contained in or on the toner. The thus obtd. toner of 5-50mum grain sizes has moderate conductivity, does not cause any change in image quality despite the change in humidity, are reinforced with the short fibers to prevent cracking and provide a longer life, and prevents the degradation in image quality owing to ground stains. |
