A filtering packing (5) of material, which is permeable to a fluid mixture, extends throughout a flow section of the mixture. The wetting power of the finely dispersed phase which it is intended to coalesce is, in the case of the packing material (5), greater than the wetting power of the other constituent(s) of the fluid mixture.
