A high temperature solid oxide electrolyte electrochemical cell comprising a porous, annular, inner air electrode, a gas tight solid electrolyte substantiall y surrounding, the outer periphery of the air electrode, and a porous outer fuel e lectrode substantially surrounding the solid electrolyte, where the solid electrolyte and fuel electrode are discontinuous for inclusion of an electrical interconnection mater ial disposed on the air electrode in the discontinuity of the electrolyte, wherein t he air electrode is a material comprising the composition having the general chemical formula: La~-x-w (M~)x (Ce)w+~ (M~)~-y (M,2)y 03, where ML = Ca, M,~ = Mn, M,2 = Ni, Cr or a mixture thereof, x is about 0.2, w is about 0.1-0.2, y is about 0.03-0.2, and z is about 0.0-0.005. |
