Isothermal catalytic unit intended to produce a catalytic reaction on a reactive fluid in the presence of a catalyst and to maintain isothermal conditions during the passage of the reactive fluid through the said catalytic unit, using an auxiliary heat-transfer fluid. The unit includes a vessel (1) of circular shape and isothermal catalytic reactors (20) arranged inside the vessel (1), each consisting of a stack of mutually parallel plates forming two circuits for circulation of the said fluids with intersecting and alternating streams between two sets of adjacent plates. The isothermal catalytic reactors (20) are vertical, distributed in a polygon in the vessel (1) and are connected to means for entry and exit of the reactive and auxiliary fluids and of the catalyst. <IMAGE>
