This sealing ring 1, designed to be placed between two flanges 20, 23, particularly two parts of a coupling, comprising a core 2, arranged transversely to the longitudinal axis A-A of the flanges and clamped between two frontal surfaces 21, 22 and, on either side of this core and adjacent thereto, two annular projections 3, 4 which exhibit tapered external regions 5, 6 corresponding to the internal wall 7, 8 of the two flanges and an internal annular surface 15. According to the invention, it is characterised in that it is produced in three parts, namely an external ring 9 and an internal ring 10 which includes a region forming a core 11 and, adjacent to the latter, the two projections 3, 4, while an inserted sealing piece 12 made of expanded graphite and having a greater thickness than the thickness of the two, inner and outer, rings 9, 10 is interposed between these two rings. <IMAGE>
