The invention relates to a composition based on acetylsalicylic acid which is of enhanced bioavailability. The composition contains: - acetylsalicylic acid particles, in particular having sizes which pass through a 160 or 180 micron sieve, coated exclusively with a surface-active agent, such as sodium dioctylsulphosuccinate; - a powder containing anhydrous citric acid in a proportion which is double the amount of acetylsalicylic acid; - an alkaline powder containing sodium bicarbonate in a proportion which is three times the dose of acetylsalicylic acid.
