In the case of a process for producing dry-pressed mouldings from a substantially dry pourable ceramic, metallic or carbon-containing moulding composition in a mould comprising one or more parts, it is proposed that a vacuum is produced by the mould wall in the mould cavity and, by means of the pressure differential thereby occurring, a moulding composition under pressure, for example atmospheric pressure, is fired through a firing opening into the mould cavity, while fluidising at the same time, and in the said mould cavity is precompressed under venting, and that the pneumatically precompressed moulding composition is then pressed to form a moulding of the desired final density.
