Process for the preparation and the use of monoclonal antibodies against X or Y chromosome-containing sperm for separating spermatozoa

Rapid and efficient separation of intact male and female sperm is desirable and necessary in many areas. The success of this has been only inadequate to date. Rapid and reliable separation of intact sperm is possible using monoclonal antibodies with selective specificity either for male or female spermatozoa. By using a ring-like pessary coated with monoclonal antibodies, parents are able to determine freely the sex of their offspring and need no longer leave this to chance. Furthermore, in agriculture it is possible before the artificial insemination of cattle, pigs etc. to separate the sperm rapidly and reliably into male and female spermatozoa.
