In the case of an arrangement for determining the polarisation of electromagnetic waves by evaluating the amplitude and the phase difference of the signal components of two orthogonally polarised receive antennas, the two signal components are fed one after the other via a commutator to one input of a compensation mixer as measurement signal and a signal derived from the same wave to be measured is fed to the other input of the compensation mixer as reference signal, and the polarisation is then determined in an evaluation device from the real-part and imaginary-part components of the compensation mixer, which components correspond to the instantaneous phase difference and the instantaneous amplitude ratio of reference signal and measurement signal in each commutator circuit.
