A ground running test facility for aircraft having jet engines is arranged in a sound-insulated hall (1). The engine exhaust gases are led away through a silencer (6). A device (4) for decelerating the flow of the exhaust gas jet is arranged upstream of the silencer (6). The jet inlet area (7) of this device (4) extends over the majority of the hall width. Resistance bodies (8) are arranged in a plurality of successive groups, which resistance bodies (8) are in the form of bars, extend transversely with respect to the flow direction and are offset with respect to one another in successive groups. The exhaust gas jet is decelerated by the resistance bodies (8) to a flow speed which is acceptable for the silencer (6), without any reverse flow occurring in this case. <IMAGE>
