PURPOSE:To easily obtain the titled substance in a short time, by reacting a furfural compound with a propargyl halide in the presence of zinc, an inorganic ammonium salt and organic quaternary ammonium salt surfactant in a mixture of water and an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula II can be produced by reacting a furfural compound of formula I (R is H or CH3) with a propargyl halide (e.g. chloride) at a molar ratio of 1:(1-5) in the presence of 1-5 mol (based on 1 mol of the compound of formula I) of zinc, inorganic ammonium salt (e.g. ammonium chloride) and an organic quaternary ammonium salt surfactant in water or in a mixture of water and an organic solvent at 5-80 deg.C. The above surfactant is e.g. tetraethylammonium bromide and is used at an amount of 0.005-1 mol per 1 mol of the compound of formula I. The organic solvent is preferably n-hexane, THF, pyridine, etc. |
