<p>The plain bearing may be made or aluminium alloy and may be used in a variety of different applications. The friction face (1) of the bearing is formed on a layer (5) of heat treatable aluminium alloy which forms an inter-layer between the friction face and bearing shell (3). The heat treatable aluminium alloy has emergency running properties. It incorporates dispersed inclusions (2) which may be softer than the surrounding material, to act as a lubricant.</p> |
