MOUNTING OF OBJECTS USING PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE

An object such as a badge 20 on a body panel 10 of a motor vehicle is affixed by placing a pressure sensitive adhesive 22 between the badge and the panel. The object is placed on a rigid back plate 26 and the back plate is placed in proximity to the body panel 10, with a closed vacuum chamber 36 being formed between them by a compressible, impermeable wall. Vacuum is then applied to the chamber to pull the back plate and the body panel toward one another so that the adhesive is pressed firmly against the body panel.
