PURPOSE:To provide a self-color-forming recording paper having a uniform surface, by a method wherein spot coats are provided on a paper base so that the entire surface of the paper base coated, followed by drying to thereby prevent the paper from being distorted or wrinkled. CONSTITUTION:A self-color-forming water base coating material A comprising a dye precursor and a color developer is applied only to parts where recording is required of the paper base 1. To parts where recording is not required of the paper base 1, a water base coating material F, for example, a material obtained by removing only the dye precursor and the color developer from the coating material A is applied on a spot basis in the periphery of the coating material A for the purpose of adjusting water content. Therefore, virtually the entire part of the paper base 1 is coated, so that stretching and contracting conditions of the paper will be uniform. After the coating is completed, the obtained material is dried, upon which the paper base is stretched or contracted uniformly, resulting in a self-color-forming recording paper K free of distortion or wrinkles. |
